WMO
President Csaba Kőrösi spoke today with Professor Celeste Saulo, Secretary-General-elect of World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
He looks forward to continued collaboration with WMO on water-related issues.
Today’s discussion focused on the creation of a global water information system and an early warning system, which are among the main topics that Secretary-General António Guterres and the President Kőrösi summarized from the UN 2023 Water Conference – formally known as the 2023 Conference for the Midterm Comprehensive Review of Implementation of the UN Decade for Action on Water and Sanitation.

Monday, 12 June…
At 10AM ET, in the General Assembly Hall, there will be the 78th plenary debate. The focus is on HIV/AIDS. President Kőrösi will have remarks.
Earlier that day, President Kőrösi will participate in a special meeting on multilingualism across the United Nations system with the theme of “Building Common Understanding through Multilingualism”. The event is organized by the Permanent Missions of Andorra, Burundi, Canada, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, and Spain and the Permanent Observer Mission for the International Organization of la Francophonie as well as the NGO Committee on Language and Languages and the Study Group on Language and the United Nations.
In the afternoon, President Kőrösi will have remarks to a meeting on “easy-to-understand communication”.
Also on Monday, Member States will hold informal consultations on the political declaration for the high-level meeting on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response. Those consultations will continue on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, 13 June…
At 10AM ET, President Kőrösi will participate in the 16th session of the Conference of State Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
That day, the President will also meet with his Gender Advisory Board. one of the topics that is likely to be discussed is the joint campaign underway with UN Women to encourage all Permanent Missions to complete the UN online trainings on gender equality and the prevention of sexual harassment.
On Wednesday, 14 June…
At 10AM ET, there will be the plenary debate on the Culture of Peace. President Kőrösi will have remarks.
Afterward, President Kőrösi will participate in a meeting of the Muslim World League at its international conference on the theme of “Forum for Building Bridges Between East and West”.
Also on Wednesday, Member States will hold informal consultations on the political declaration for the high-level meeting on the fight against tuberculosis
On Thursday, 15 June…
At 10AM ET, President Kőrösi will participate in a high-level debate on the theme “Equal access to justice for all: advancing reforms for peaceful, just and inclusive societies”. The opening and high-level segments will take place in the GA Hall, with the afternoon interactive segment in the Trusteeship Council Chamber.
On Friday, 16 June…
There will be a high-level event to mark Desertification & Drought Day 2023. This year’s theme is “Her Land, Her Rights: Advancing gender equality and land restoration goals”. President Kőrösi will make remarks.
