Disability Inclusion in the Health Sector - COSP15 Side Event
More than 1 billion people, or 15% of the world's population experience disability. Persons with disabilities face a range of barriers preventing them from receiving quality health services. These barriers relate to the physical environment; attitudes of health policy planners and health workers; costs of services; and methods to communicate vital health information. The Covid-19 pandemic has, and continues to, exacerbate these barriers and disproportionately affect persons with disabilities.
This side event seeks to engage Member States, health sector partners and civil society in dialogue on the entry points to prioritizing and strengthening disability inclusion in national health agendas to address health inequities for persons with disabilities.
