The UN Global Compact is celebrating 20 years of principled business leadership The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action of 1995 (Beijing Platform for Action) is the most visionary agenda for the empowerment of women and girls. To commemorate its 25th anniversary, UN Women is bringing together the next generations of women's rights activists with veteran gender equality advocates under the multigenerational campaign: "Generation Equality: Realizing women's rights for an equal future". The Generation Equality campaign demands equal pay, equal sharing of unpaid care and domestic work, an end to sexual harassment and all forms of violence against women and girls, health-care services that respond to their needs, and their equal participation in political life and decision-making in all areas of life. UN Women, co-hosted by the governments of Mexico and France will convene the Generation Equality Forum, a civil society–centred, multi-stakeholder, gathering to spark a global public conversation for urgent action and accountability for gender equality. The Forum will kick off in Mexico City, Mexico (7–8 May 2020), and culminate in Paris, France (7–10 July 2020). The Forum will result in innovative partnerships between civil society, Member States, and private sector, as well as other stakeholders, who share common goals to accelerate action on critical thematic areas of concern. These Action Coalitions will develop a set of concrete, ambitious, and transformative actions that Coalition members will take between 2020 and 2025 to achieve immediate and irreversible progress towards gender equality. --- The UN SDG Media Zone convenes Government leaders, CEOs, UN heads, activists, influencers and entrepreneurs for short panel discussions on topics related to the Sustainable Development Goals. To mark its 20th anniversary, the UN Global Compact in partnership with the UN Department of Global Communications, is bringing the SDG Media Zone to Davos for the first time during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting. Topics discussed include principled business, climate action, gender equality, sustainable finance, global health, employee purpose and many more issues directly related to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which was unanimously agreed by 193 UN member states in September 2015.
