Summary:
Bar Ilan University conducted a study during the pandemic among teachers who received these tools, in order to understand what role technology played in education during COVID-19.
Description:
SPED schools in Israel remained opened for the most part of the COVID-19 pandemic in Israel. However, during the first lockdown everything closed, and it was the use of technology that saved many of the students with special needs, preventing regression and ensuring continued communication. As part of Athena's vision, we distribute iPads and professional training to SPED teachers all over the country. Our friends at the Bar Ilan University conducted a study during the pandemic among teachers who received these tools, in order to understand what role technology played in education during COVID-19. We wish to share the results of this study, strengthen them with first-hand testimonies, and emphasize the potential of technology to empower people with disabilities. Our goal is increasing the awareness, that in order to provide inclusive education to all children, we have to equip teachers with technology and training.
