Description

The Office of the President of the General Assembly will hold a series of stakeholder consultations on 24 October 2022, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, to allow civil society, economic sector actors and scientific community members to share insights on game changers related to water and sustainability issues.

Roundtable on Innovation

  • Science and conducive environment for innovation and support to SDG implementation
  • Outlook on a future compact, integrating all stakeholders in the processes

Prior to the Preparatory Meeting of the UN 2023 Water Conference on 25 October 2022, the President of the General Assembly is hosting a one-day consultation with stakeholders on 24 October. In a series of five roundtables, this day-long hybrid event will aim at discussing potential transformative game changers that can feed into the Water Action Agenda. The accelerators of the Global Acceleration Framework (governance, capacity development, data and information, innovation and financing) along with the suggested 5 themes for the Interactive Dialogues of the UN 2023 Water Conference will form the basis of the discussion.

The stakeholder consultation of 24 October and the preparatory meeting of 25 October will be important milestones on the road to the UN 2023 Water Conference, which, together with other sequencing events throughout the 77th session of the General Assembly, will lead up to the SDG Summit in September 2023.
