Description

Since the beginning of the pandemic, OPDs were very active doing their advocacy work, filling the gaps left by the governments and providing direct support to persons with disabilities and their families.

There were good experiences of collaboration between OPDs and different actors such as development organizations and government. This is important to ensure voices of people with disabilities are heard and included in the response plans design. IDA was strongly involved in supporting its members during the pandemic by making sure persons with disabilities are included in the global agenda, reacting to discriminatory triage practices with WHO, influencing the Office of the SG and advocating to end discrimination.

This event aims at providing a platform for organizations of persons with disabilities, development organizations, UN agencies and other stakeholders to share experiences of collaborative work during the pandemic and to provide recommendations on inclusive recovery plans.
