On the occasion of the High-level Meeting on the review and follow up of the New Urban Agenda taking place in April in New York, the organized constituency of local and regional governments gathered within the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments (GTF), facilitated by United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) will be convening the World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments.

The World Assembly has been officially recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in recognition of the role local and regional governments and communities play in sustainable urban development and in the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.
