Twenty-five years ago, in direct response to the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UN Trust Fund) was established with one goal: accelerating UN system-wide efforts to end violence against women and girls (VAW/G).

This year, as the UN Trust Fund marks 25 years, you are cordially invited to join in commemorating this 25-year long journey of grant-giving of support to civil society and women's rights organizations, and of commitment to making the right of women and girls to live a life free of violence a reality for all.

The commemoration event will take place virtually on Monday, 25 October 2021 at 10 am – 11. 30 am (EST) and will involve high-level representatives of UN Member States, H.E. Mr. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ms. Sima Sami Bahous, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women, Ms. Nicole Kidman, UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, actress, producer and activist, past and present UN Trust Fund grantees, civil society and women's rights organizations, as well as women's rights advocates and champions from across the world. More details on the event can be found here and in the agenda attached.

The event will also signal the start of the build up to the International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women a month later, 25th November, which kicks off "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence".
