The event will present an opportunity for a number of ambitious countries and non-state actors to showcase domestic and international actions, both on land and in the ocean, to ensure successful implementation of biodiversity agreements, including the the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) and BBNJ agreement.
Description

The event will show that there are a number of early mover countries who are determined to ensure the success of the GBF and BBNJ Agreement and are rapidly moving from ambition to action, focusing on addressing key levers of change and accelerating addressing bottlenecks.

Participants should announce or highlight concrete and meaningful actions their country, agency, organization have taken to implement the KMGBF, demonstrate clear progress on reaching the KMGBF Targets including the 30by30, finance and footprint goals and targets both quantitatively and qualitatively,  as well as unlocking financing in support of achieving a nature positive and equitable world for sustainable development, and emphasize the importance of the swift signature, ratification and entry into force of the BBNJ agreement, and the need to support its effective implementation in particular by developing countries to ensure that the Agreement has as broad participation as possible.

The event will showcase a balance of transformative actions and reforms for conservation, addressing drivers and Finance for nature and people.

The event is organised by the HAC N&P, LPN and GOA, and is co-hosted by a cross regional group of countries including Belize, Bhutan, Colombia, Costa Rica, European Union, France, Nigeria, United Kingdom, United States of America, as well as their partners: Bloomberg Philanthropies Ocean Initiative, BirdLife International, Campaign for Nature, Capitals Coalition, Club of Rome, Conservation International, Enduring Earth, Nature for Life hub, Nature Positive Initiative, The Nature Conservancy, The Pew Charitable Trusts, The Small Island Developing States Coalition for Nature, UN Development Programme (UNDP), UN Environment Programme (UNEP), Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Wyss Foundation.
