Reducing child labour in agriculture through decent youth employment
Description
In 2021, which marks the International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour, FAO is strongly reaffirming its commitment to end child labour in the agricultural sector.
In Guatemala, rural youth face challenges in accessing decent employment opportunities in agriculture. Despite being of legal working age, many rural youth aged 14-17 are engaged in hazardous work. FAO is working with producer cooperatives and businesses to turn child labour into decent employment, promoting safe working conditions, education and training.
