Water represents one of the most urgent human development challenges. Forty five chief executives officers will today announce major commitments to advance corporate water management practices.
Description:

Water represents one of the most urgent human development challenges. About 800 million people in the world do not access to safe drinking water, and nearly 2.5 billion lack access to improved sanitation facilities. The UN predicts that nearly two-thirds of humanity will live in water-stressed regions by 2025. Water's fundamental role in agriculture and industry is also under stress. Responding to this crisis, 45 chief executives officers will today announce major commitments to advance corporate water management practices. In a special CEO Communique, the business leaders summarize the many actions and commitments their companies are undertaking -- while recommending what steps Governments can take to make greater progress on the global water crisis and enhance business' contribution.

Moderator: Tim Wall, Forum Spokesperson, UN Global Compact
