Update on the Rule of Law situation in the Central African Republic, including the Special Criminal Court and the Truth, Justice, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission.


The Central African Republic (CAR) Configuration of the Peacebuilding Commission, chaired by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Nations, continues to work on mobilizing international attention and support to peacebuilding efforts in CAR, including for the organization of elections, the implementation of the National Recovery and Peacebuilding Plan (RCPCA) and strengthening rule of law.

The Ambassadorial-level meeting will review the progress to strengthen the rule of law sector, including resource mobilization for the budgetary deficit in the operations of the Special Criminal Court, and the efforts to transform the transitional justice landscape.  

  • Update on the status of the justice sector and the rule of law, including the fight against impunity;
  • Update on the broader transitional justice landscape, including the TJRRC;
  • Update on the operationalization, functioning and financing of the Special Criminal Court and TJRRC, including opportunities for Member States to provide additional support to Transitional Justice.
