Carbon Capture Utilization & Storage - Technology essential for an equitable energy path forward
To lower emissions of CO2, and assure global energy growth, the commercial scale adoption of carbon capture utilization & storage (CCUS) is believed to be essential. CCUS enables the utilization of secure, reliable, and affordable fossil fuel energy sources to meet the growing global energy demand. It is both an emissions reduction and emissions avoided solution.
The barriers to realizing commercial scale CCUS globally are not technical, but a question of policy. A failure to consider the CCUS option could exacerbate energy poverty in the poorest nations. The Group of 77 should hear the case for CCUS as a route to successfully address both energy poverty and CO2 emissions.
