Driving the ocean energy transition: accelerating green shipping: SDG Media Zone - UN Ocean Conference 2022
The international shipping sector urgently needs to decarbonize and get to zero emissions by 2050. Zero carbon fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia are being increasingly trialled, but will require a significant amount of renewable energy -with some of this coming from offshore wind. Green corridors are emerging between ports, driven by public-private partnerships, to create zero emissions transport lanes.
