As part of the International Year of Millets (IYM) 2023 celebration, the IYM Secretariat, hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN as the lead agency, is bringing together chefs from around the world to participate in this live millets cooking event.

The World Food Forum Startup Innovation Awards, powered by Extreme Tech Challenge, is a global startup competition showcasing innovators who are harnessing the power of technology to drive agrifood systems transformation in support of ending global hunger and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Eight finalists have been selected out of 127 entrants for their outstanding innovation, entrepreneurship and promising potential for a positive impact on agrifood systems.

The 2023 Science and Innovation Forum of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) will be opened by the FAO Director General and high level global figures in science and innovation, such as Ministers and prominent scientists. The opening will highlight the importance of science and innovation for climate action. It will also advocate for more collaboration and experience sharing to step up agrifood systems transformation.

This session will gather examples of science-based evidence of climate change adaptation and mitigation, technological advancements and innovative solutions suitable for agrifood system actors. Recognizing the urgent need for action, the session will reunite highly skilled academics, government, private sector and non-governmental organization innovators to share experiences in areas such as behavioural science, circular economy, entrepreneurship, food and policy accelerators, and forest monitoring.

Recognizing the importance of fostering intergenerational collaboration and knowledge exchange, this session brings together young and seasoned scientists in the agrifood sector in a candid and interactive dialogue to highlight how meaningful collaboration across generations can be a catalyst to accelerate the pace of science-based innovations.

As the inaugural youth session of the 2023 World Food Forum, this session aims to inspire youth and highlight young people as key drivers of global agrifood systems transformation. By showcasing formidable youth-led initiatives, sharing lessons from successful changemakers and providing a glimpse into the upcoming Youth Action Assembly, this event will ignite urgency for youth to take positive actions towards creating a better food future, leaving no one behind.

This session will include the presentations of 10 teams of the WFF's first-ever incubator Youth Food Lab, giving them the opportunity to showcase their projects in front of the audience that will also involve the senior leaders of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN and global experts. The session will include elevator pitches from each team and a keynote speech from the Too Good To Go. The audience will have a chance to vote for the best team!
