The Special Committee on the Situation with regard to the Implementation of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples is also known as the Special Committee on Decolonization, or C-24. The 2023 resumed session will meet in New York from 12 to 23 June.

Jointly organized by the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and with the sponsorship of the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations, the side event will provide an overview of observed and emerging trends relating to the destruction of cultural heritage and illicit trade of cultural property, and their linkages with terrorism, and current responses to phenomenon.
