General Assembly Adopts Resolution on Protection of Civilians and Upholding Legal and Humanitarian Obligations in Gaza

The General Assembly adopts a resolution on "protection of civilians and upholding legal and humanitarian obligations" during the 41st plenary meeting of the resumed 10th Emergency Special Session of the General Assembly on "Illegal Israeli actions in occupied East Jerusalem and the rest of the Occupied Palestinian Territory". The resolution calls for a humanitarian truce, that all parties comply with international humanitarian and human rights law, and that essential supplies and humanitarian assistance be delivered into the Gaza Strip. It was adopted by recorded vote with 120 votes in favour, 14 against, and 45 abstentions.
