Security Council Meets on Admission of New Members

Riyad H. Mansour, Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, addresses the Security Council meeting on the admission of new members. He spoke after a resolution on the admission of Palestine as a UN member state failed to pass due to the veto of a permanent member of the Security Council (United States).

The resolution (S/2024/286) received 12 votes in favour, 1 against (United States), and 2 abstentions (United Kingdom and Switzerland).
