Security Council Extends Mandate of UN Mission in South Sudan

Cecilia A.M. Adeng, Permanent Representative of South Sudan to the United Nations, addresses the Security Council meeting on South Sudan.

The Security Council adopted Resolution 2729 (2024) extending the mandate of United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) until 30 April 2025. The resolution was adopted with 13 votes in favour, none against and 2 abstentions (China, Russian Federation).
