President of General Assembly Visits South Sudan

The President of the General Assembly is visiting South Sudan. His visit is intended to further strengthen and foster cooperation between the Republic of South Sudan and the UN and express support for the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan and its full implementation. During his visit he met with Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan, and discussed peace and stability in relation to the implementation of the peace agreement, humanitarian and development assistance, and support for democratic processes, including elections. He further met with internally displaced peoples, community leaders, local media, as well as witnessed the work of the UN Mine Action Service.
