General Assembly Meets on Strengthening of United Nations System

Dylan Adelman, Advisor, UN Management and Reform, of the United States Mission to the United Nations, introduces an amendment on "Participation of non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions and the private sector in the high-level Summit of the Future" under the issue Strengthening of the United Nations system.

The Assembly later adopted, by a recorded vote of 62 in favour to 16 against, with 53 abstentions, the amendment, which added a number of organizations to the list in its annex. The Assembly also adopted, without a vote, the draft decision, as amended, on "Participation of non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions and the private sector in the high-level Summit of the Future", by which the Assembly decided to approve the participation of 44 such entities, as listed in an annex to that decision, in the high-level Summit of the Future.
