Security Council Meets on Peace and Security in Africa

Sylvie Valérie Baipo Temon, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Central Africans abroad of the Central African Republic, addresses the Security Council meeting on peace and security in Africa.

The Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2745 (2024) on the Central African Republic (CAR) sanctions regime. Acting under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, the Resolution decides to lift the arms embargo on the CAR established under resolution 2127 (2013) as amended and extended by resolution 2693 (2023). If further decides that, until 31 July 2025, all Member States shall take the necessary measures to prevent the direct or indirect supply, sale or transfer of arms and related materiel of all types, to armed groups and associated individuals operating in the Central African Republic.
