Deputy Permanent Representative of United States Briefs Press ahead of Security Council Meeting on Middle East

Robert A. Wood (right), Deputy Permanent Representative, Alternate Representative for Special Political Affairs of the United States Mission to the United Nations, briefs reporters ahead of the Security Council meeting on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question.

The Security Council later voted on a draft resolution stating that the Council "demands an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire to be respected by all parties; and further reiterates its demand for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages;" during the meeting on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question.
The resolution received 14 votes in favour, one vote against (United States). The resolution was not adopted due to the veto by one of the Permanent Members of the Security Council (United States).
