Security Council Meets on Situation in Somalia
Mohamed Rabi A. Yusuf, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the United Nations, addresses the Security Council meeting on the situation in Somalia.
During the meeting the Security Council adopted resolution 2767 (2024) authorizing the African Union to deploy a new peace support mission in Somalia, the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), for an initial period of 12 months, starting on 1 January 2025.
The resolution was adopted by 14 votes in favour and one abstention (United States).
