MONUSCO Force Commander Meets and North Kivu Governor

Lieutenant General Ulisses de Mesquita (centre left), Force Commander of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), and North Kivu Governor Major General Evariste Somo Kakule (centre) discuss strengthening joint operations between MONUSCO and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC), as well as enhancing collaboration for regional security.

The meeting took place in Beni, Democratic Republic of the Congo, at the newly established North Kivu provincial headquarters, following the recent loss of the capital, Goma, to M23 rebels.
