Security Council Meets on Maintenance of International Peace and Security

Amir Saeid Iravani, Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran, addresses the Security Council meeting on threats to international peace and security.

Secretary-General António Guterres told the Security Council that the bombing of Iran's nuclear sites by the United States marks a "perilous turn", warning that the region cannot endure yet another "cycle of destruction." The Secretary-General said there must be an immediate ceasefire and returned to "serious, sustained negotiations."
