General Assembly Holds 56th Plenary Meeting on Oceans and Law of the Sea

Sérgio França Danese, Permanent Representative of Brazil to the United Nations, introduces a draft amendment on "Oceans and the law of the sea" during the 56th plenary meeting of the General Assembly on the Oceans and the law of the sea. The Assembly also discussed Sustainable fisheries, including through the 1995 Agreement for the Implementation of the Provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 10 December 1982 relating to the Conservation and Management of Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly Migratory Fish Stocks, and related instruments, as well as the agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction.
