Installation Ceremony of Non-Permanent Members of Security Council for 2026-2027

An installation ceremony of the national flags of the countries of the newly elected non-permanent members to serve on the United Nations Security Council for the term 2026-2027 was held today at UN Headquarters. The five new non-permanent members are Bahrain, Colombia, Republic of the Congo, Latvia, and Liberia.

Khaled Khiari, Assistant Secretary-General for Middle East, Asia and the Pacific in the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations, briefs the press during the ceremony.
