Economic and Social Council Elects New President

Lok Bahadur Thapa (centre), outgoing President of the Economic and Social Council and Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations, addresses the 1st Economic and Social Council plenary meeting of the session.

Amar Bendjama, Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations, was elected President of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for 2026 - 2027 during the meeting.
