High-level Event on Climate Action and the Just Transition

The Secretary-General convened leaders from government, business, finance, civil society and other sectors to accelerate climate action and advance a just transition in the face of the overshoot of the 1.5°C limit, which is now inevitable and will likely happen within the next ten years.

The meeting provided leaders with an opportunity to identify the actions they are prepared to take individually and collectively, the solutions they are prepared to champion, the barriers they are prepared to help remove, and the partnerships, coalitions and international cooperation they are prepared to build, strengthen or broaden to deliver the acceleration and scale required to fight the climate crisis.
