After 35 years the Headquarters of the United Nations still has a commanding presence in the Manhattan skyline. In particular, it is the Secretariat building (located at the centre of the photograph) which stands out in the aerial view. The exterior facings of the 550-foot tall Secretariat building are exclusively of aluminum, glass and marble. Its wide areas of green-tinted glass are unbroken by conventional setbacks.
