Secretary-General of the United Nations Receives 1999 Black History Maker Award

The Associated Black Charities names Kofi Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations; Jacqueline ""Jackie"" Joyner-Kersee, Olympic Gold Medalist; and Gordon Parks, author, screenwriter, photographer and film director, as recipients of its 1999 Black History Makers Award. The award was also bestowed posthumously on photographer James Augustus Vander Zee (1886-1983) and on Olympic track start with Wilma Glodean Rudolph (1940-1994).
