Juba Community Welcomes Weapons-free Zone

Flora Poni (right) and fellow community resident greet David Shearer, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), during a tour of the weapons-free zone on the perimeter of the UN-House Protection of Civilians (PoC) site in Juba. The tour was part of the handover of the result of a joint Quick Impact Project (QIP) between the government of South Sudan and UNMISS, which included the construction of a solar-powered water system and the clearance of vegetation surrounding three communities around UN-House in Juba.
