International Day of Peace in Colombia

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly has declared this a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.
The UN Mission in Colombia celebrated this day by lighting candles for the 2,769 lives estimated to have been saved during the first 10 months of the ceasefire between the Government and the FARC-EP (The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia—People's Army).
