Security Council Extends Mission in Western Sahara

The Security Council adopted resolution 2285 (2016) this morning, extending the mandate of the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) until 30 April 2017. The vote was ten in favor, two opposed (Uruguay and Venezuela) and three abstentions (Angola, New Zealand and the Russian Federation).
