FAO Supports Community Farming Projects in South Sudan

Student members of a school agriculture club in Gumbo, across the Nile River from the capital city Juba, pose for a photo in their school garden with food crops they have been cultivating as part of a project supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO). The objective of the project is for students to apply the practices they learn at home, diversify their diets by adding vegetables to their main meals, and sell a portion of the crops at markets so the school can reinvest in agriculture next season.
