Scene at the Smara Refugee Camp near Tindouf, Algeria

A group of Sahrawi refugees hold up large portraits during the Secretary-General's visit to the Smara refugee camp outside of Tindouf, Algeria, today. The Secretary-General hopes his visit will raise awareness of the dire humanitarian situation Sahrawi refugees are facing and encourage parties to the Western Sahara conflict to find a lasting and mutually acceptable resolution to the now forty-year-long discord.
