UNMAS Detonates Mines in Magwi County, South Sudan
The UN Mine Action Service (UNMAS) detonated mines and unexploded remnants of war on 24 March in the Ayii area of Magwi County, Eastern Equatoria State. Toby Lanzer, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General in the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and Humanitarian Coordinator, witnessed the operation and said the event marked an early start of the annual celebration of the International Mine Action Day (4 April).
