Protection of Civilians Site in Malakal, South Sudan

Lilinne Ploumen, Minister of Foreign Trade and International Cooperation of the Netherlands, visited the UNMISS (UN Mission in South Sudan) base in Malakal, Upper Nile State, with Toby Lanzer, UN Humanitarian Coordinator and Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General in the Mission. The delegation visited a Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) clinic at the base, toured both the old and new protection-of-civilians sites and met members of the IDP (internally displaced persons) Peace and Security Council. UNMISS is providing shelter for 17,000 IDPs at the base.
