Head of UNMISS Meets UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Forest Whitaker

Ellen Margrethe Løj (right), Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS), meets with Forest Whitaker, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Peace and Reconciliation. Whitaker was in South Sudan to conduct activities related to The Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative. He conducted a 5-day workshop in Torit, South Sudan, focused on the peace-building capacity among South Sudanese youth through the Youth Peacemaker Network (YPN), and also launched Peace Through Sports activities at the UN House Protection of Civilians (POC) site, where construction of a community sports centre is under way.
