Secretary-General Visits Newly Renovated General Assembly Hall

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon (second from left) poses for a photo during his visit today to the newly renovated General Assembly Hall at UN Headquarters in New York. The original UN structures were built between 1950 and 1952 and lacked safety standards for modern buildings. The original look and feel of the General Assembly Building with its iconic hall has been restored and state of the art electronics and more efficient heating and air conditioning systems have been installed, as well as better safety and security features.
With Mr. Ban are, from left: with Yukio Takasu, Under-Secretary-General for Management; Susana Malcorra, Chef de Cabinet to the Secretary-General; and Michael Adlerstein, Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of the Capital Master Plan (CMP).
