Children at Kapuri School, South Sudan

The UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS)'s Rwandan Battalion is working with the local community on an "Umuganda" ("shared work") project, constructing a new school for the students in Kapuri, a town close to the capital city, Juba. The school at the current location consists of open-air rooms and trees that serve as classrooms, with no restroom facilities. Children are sent home when it rains, as it is difficult to support regular schooling during the rainy season for the 420 attending students at the current facilities.
Nursery level children are learning the English alphabet.
