Remains of Nigerien Peacekeepers Arrive in Niamey, Niger

Arnauld Antoine Akodjènou (centre right, in black suit), Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General in the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), and Mahamadou Issoufou (left of Mr. Akodjènou), President of the Republic of Niger, among others, pay their respects to the nine Nigerien peacekeepers who were killed in a targeted ambush in Mali on 3 October 2014. The remains of the fallen peacekeepers, who served in MINUSMA, arrived in Niamey, Niger, for a national memorial ceremony.
