UNMISS Indian Field Hospital Provides Vital Medical Services in South Sudan
A child undergoes an X-ray screening at the Indian Field Hospital in Malakal. The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Indian Field Hospital has opened its doors not only to UNMISS staff, but also to internally displaced persons (IDPs) living at the nearby Protection of Civilians (POC) site, and to residents of the community ever since fighting erupted on 15 December, 2013. During the past year, medical staff have performed over 500 hundred surgeries, offered obstetrics and gynecology services, and helped to deliver over seventy babies, in addition to providing other vital health care services.
