UNMISS Indian Field Hospital Provides Vital Medical Services in South Sudan

Since fighting erupted on 15 December, 2013, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Indian Field Hospital has opened its doors not only UNMISS staff, but also to internally displaced persons (IDPs) living at the nearby Protection of Civilians (POC) site and to residents of the larger community. In the past year, medical staff has performed over 500 hundred surgeries, offered Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ob-Gyn) services and helped to deliver over seventy babies in addition to providing other vital health care services.
