General Assembly Holds Interactive Hearings on Upcoming World Conference on Indigenous Peoples

John W. Ashe, President of the sixty-eighth session of the General Assembly, gives the opening statement at the Assembly's interactive session today. The informal hearings are being held as a preparatory process for the high-level meeting of the sixty-ninth session of the General Assembly, to be known as the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples. Today's discussions focused on the ""Implementation of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples"" and ""Indigenous peoples' lands, territories, resources, oceans and waters"".
