UN Peacekeeping Chief Visits South Sudan
During his visit to the UN Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS), Hervé Ladsous, Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, is shown the Tomping Camp, in Juba, where the UN is protecting approximately 20,000 civilians displaced by the fighting between government and rebel forces which broke out in December.
Joining Mr. Ladsous on the trip to Tomping are Hilde F. Johnson, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNMISS, and Derk Segaar, Chief of the Resident Coordinator Office for Recovery, Reintegration and Peacebuilding (RCO-RRP).
