Commemoration of International Women's Day

A special event , organized by the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), was held at UN Headquarters to mark International Women's Day (8 March). Its theme: "Equality for women is progress for all."
John W. Ashe, President of the sixty-eighth session of the UN General Assembly greets Lakshmi Puri, Deputy Executive Director for the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), at today's event.
