Primary School in Ethiopia
In 2003 the United Nations country teams and their partners continue to work together to address the urgent needs of 12.6 million in Ethiopia. According to humanitarian agencies, the lives of the people are threatened by the consequences of war and the devastating drought, which has affected the country for several years in a row.
The peace process between Ethiopia and Eritrea is at a critical stage. The completion of the peace process would allow the parties to address the humanitarian emergency caused by the protracted drought and the effects of a long conflict between the two countries.
This photo is taken in the Sitti Zone, formerly known as Shinile, a zone in Somali Region in eastern Ethiopia.
