A view of the opening of the fifty-seventh session of the General Assembly.

Kaspar Villiger (walking second from front), President of Switzerland, and Joseph Deiss (behind Mr Villiger), Minister for Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, arrive in the General Assembly Hall. By unanimous decision, Switzerland became the 190th United Nations Member State this afternoon at the opening of the fifty-seventh session of the General Assembly.
